After last week's enlightening conversation with Sarah Waters, this week's guest is one of the most attractive contemporary authors of non-fiction.

Books by Mark Lynas include high tide, which was nominated for the guardian first book award in 2004, and six degrees: our future on a hotter planet (2007), which won the Royal Society Award for best science book in 2008. His latest book, the kind of God: how planet can survive the age of humans, is just out and reviewed this week. In 2009, he was appointed Adviser on climate change to the President of Maldives, which aims to be the first carbon neutral country on Earth until 2020.

Brand will be online to chat on Friday, July 22, between 1 and 2:0 pm. Feel free to start posting your questions now, so that it can take a long time to respond to and log in again on Friday to join the conversation.
