Lewis Hamilton of McLaren won an exciting GP of Germany with a feisty unit in a circuit of Nurburgring cold to move into third place in the Championship.
Hamilton jumped Red Bull of Mark Webber at the start of the initiative, lost and recovered prior to hitting a Ferrari Fernando Alonso and Webber to the line.
A bug planted Unit saw Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull finished in fourth place, but his leadership of the Championship is still 77 points.
Jenson Button's McLaren retired from the second race in a row.
A round classification aggressive had won Hamilton, second on the grid behind Webber and 26 years old handed more of it when it counted most.
A second win of the season - and his 16 victory of career - leaves Hamilton 82 points behind Vettel with nine races left to go.

The Asturian lead did not last long, because that Hamilton led around the Ferrari on the outside back in first place.
"Hamilton is incredible," said the commentator on the BBC's F1 David Coulthard. "It is in permanent attack mode and there is no love lost between him and Alonso not".
There was every chance the pilots closely matched trio could have exchanged positions in an obligatory stop for tyres hard in the final 10 laps.

But Hamilton, who arrived in the first, held to take his first victory since Grand Prix in April, China ahead of Alonso and Webber.
As button retired from the second race running contrasting fortunes were on the other side of the McLaren garage.
2009 Champion had been working its way through the field with a two stop strategy after slipping to 10 after a bad start.

Vettel fearing a resurgence of rivalsA difficult teammate Nick Heidfeld Petrov Renault came to an end when he was squeezed to the grass by Toro Rosso's Sebastien Buemi after only 11 laps of last weekend.
"Just moved and there was no where to go, said Heidfeld.""It was an accident that could not be avoided."
Buemi received a sentence of five place grid for the next week's Grand Prix of Hungary, causing the collision.
Rubens Barrichello also withdrew from the race when the Cosworth engine failed in his Williams.
There was a lively career ending, when Webber returned Alonso a lift to the paddock. The scene was when the 1992 champion Nigel Mansell British gave a lift to the late Ayrton Senna in the British Grand Prix of 1991.
