After last week's illuminating chat with Sarah Waters, this week's guest is one of the most compelling contemporary writers of fiction.

Books by Mark Lynas include high tide, which was shortlisted for the Guardian first book award in 2004, and six degrees: Our Future on a hotter planet (2007) which won the award for best book of science the Royal Society in 2008. His most recent book, the kind of God: how planet can survive the age of humans, is just out and reviewing this week. In 2009 he was appointed Adviser on climate change to the President of Maldives, which aims to be the first carbon neutral country by 2020 on Earth.

Mark will be online to chat on Friday 22 July between 13 and 14. Feel free to start posting your questions now, so he can have a whole hour to respond and log back on Friday to join the conversation.
