Biomass boilers burning wood pellets, solar panels for water heating and heat pumps, air source and soil can all be installed with subsidies, taking the form of government bonds. The scheme of r $ 15 million is part of plans to support renewable heat and Ministers will provide funding for up to 25 thousand families.
Families to be targeted are the 4 meters of England, Wales and Scotland not already heated by gas supplies, and that, therefore, tend to use the heating oil or electric fires to heat their homes, which tend to be more expensive and can lead to higher emissions of greenhouse gases. However, Northern Ireland – where 70% of households use oil for heating – is not included in the plans.
Grants shall be fixed at £ 1,250 for a heat pump of terrestrial origin; £ 950 for a boiler biomass; £ 850 for a heat pump of air source; and r $ 300 for thermal solar water heaters. On average, this should work in about 10% of the total cost of the equipment and installation.
Greg Barker, climate change Minister, said: "we're doing it more economical for people to go green, offering discounts on the cost of eco heaters. This should be great news for people who are dependent on expensive oil or electric heating as the premium payment scheme is really aimed at them. Receive cash out of an eco-heater will not only reduce carbon emissions, it will also help create a market in the development, sale and installation of solar panels as kit or heat pumps ".
Should be requested through the Government-funded Energy Saving Trust, and only families who already implemented basic energy efficiency measures will be eligible.
Landlords are also encouraged to access subsidies to improve their housing stock, with 3 million pounds of 15 million pounds on offer set aside for them.
Philip Sellwood, Chief Executive of the Energy Saving Trust, said the research undertaken by the Organization had shown people with renewable heating value having installed. He said: "when people have the kit in their homes that they really see the benefit. The main obstacle that prevents people from taking the plunge is the initial capital cost. This is a great start in overcoming this obstacle ".
Once families have installed renewable heating equipment, also receive more subsidy payments through the renewable heat incentive of 860 million pounds when he is introduced the next October, although this will depend on the details of the scheme.
